Web Design
Swan Lake is a well-known ballet, although it has some lesser-known aspects like its history, story, and its multiple endings. In the beginning, this ballet did not see much popularity, but it gained traction after the death of its composer. Swan Lake has a beautiful yet sad story to tell both through its history and on stage.
I was tasked with creating an informative website with a storytelling approach about the Swan Lake ballet.
I looked at several websites for inspiration and drafted several sketches to establish the basis of my website. Because an image-based approach is obvious, I tried to think of another way to express it. I settled on it being type-focused as I wanted to create an elegant yet contemporary feel.
As typography was my main content, I started designing the site with big text to be a “grand entrance” to it. Its sections are separated with playful composition, and the text is always first. The images have their own space so the viewer can admire them for the work of art that the Swan Lake performance is. The “acts” section is in all-black to simulate the atmosphere of a theatre and foreshadow the ending of the ballet. The last image relates to the text to make the viewer question why I put it there.
